Braising is one of the more interesting cooking techniques to me. You take a cheap, tough cut of meat and cook it together with some seasonings, vegetables and liquid and a few hours later, you end up with extremely flavorful and tender meat that would be right at home at even a fancy restaurant. Braising is a fairly easy technique that can transform even the cheapest supermarket cut into a satisfying meal. And as a bonus to busy home cooks, slow cookers are perfect for braising. Toss your ingredients into the cooker in the morning, and your meal braises to perfection while you go about your day.
